Le Gruyère AOP mac and cheese

Macaroni topped with grilled Le Gruyère AOP is a family favorite, popular with children and adults. Macaroni covered in a creamy Le Gruyère AOP sauce and baked in the oven for even more deliciousness. Comfort food doesn’t get better than this!

  • 250 g
    Gruyère AOP
  • 250 g
    macaroni
  • 100 g
    bacon
  • 35 g
    butter
  • 35 g
    flour
  • 3.5 dl
    milk
  • 1.25 dl
    half-and-half cream

Preparation

  1. In a pan, cook the pasta for a few minutes less than the time indicated on the packet (it will continue to cook in the oven).
  2. Drain the pasta and set aside in a large bowl.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  4. Grate the Le Gruyère AOP.
  5. Mix the milk and cream in a bowl. Melt the butter in a large pan. Once melted, add the flour and stir continuously with a whisk. The mixture should be nice and thick.
  6. Add the milk/cream mixture little by little, letting the sauce thicken each time. Season well with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat.
  7. Add the grated Le Gruyère AOP to the béchamel sauce and stir until the cheese has completely melted.
  8. Pour the béchamel/Le Gruyère AOP mixture into the large bowl of cooked pasta and mix until all the pasta is covered in sauce.
  9. Tip the pasta into a large ovenproof dish. Sprinkle the top with grated Le Gruyère AOP.
  10. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15 to 25 minutes (to your taste). Eat straight away!
